After being cooped up in our apartment for a few days we headed back downtown. First up was Sichuan House where we quickly devoured my favorite chicken dish and a tofu dish.
After lunch we walked over to the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. It’s a large impressive building and the lamest museum I’ve ever been too. There were only 3 rooms with hardly any art pieces and they were all the silly contemporary things that I just don’t get. At least it was free.
We hopped on the tram and went down to St Kilda beach next, since it was such a pretty day. Even though it was Friday, plenty of people were sun bathing/getting cancer and a few brave souls were splashing around in the water. The day was warm so we decided to dip our toes in. Just as cold as the Pacific back home, at the end of summer. No jelly fish attacked us, so that was good. Luna Park, the ratty amusement park, was open so we went inside. It is like a permanent carnival. According to our Lonely Planet book it opened in 1912 and still has some of that charm (and old gum stuck to the ground).
We walked into the neighborhood of St Kilda which is a mix of high end and funky shopping and restaurants. Rob had heard that there was great chocolate here so we ended up at the Chocolateria San Churro. We shared a milkshake and 2 truffles. So delicious. After that we were full of yummy and unhealthy foods and headed home. It’s almost 8 and neither of us is interested in dinner, which is probably good. Gym tomorrow!
