We live in a nice neighborhood surrounded by fairly new homes which seem to be part of a PUD. When we first moved here I could not figure out why the homes seems a little off to me. It wasn’t because they aren’t either Mediterranean or Cape Cod style like in Southern California. Then it dawned on me that there is hardly any visible wood on them. Rob suggested it was because most of the trees are eucalyptus, and as far as we know, they don’t build anything with it. We could be way wrong on this. Anyone else have a guess?

    Eucalyptus is often used as a veneer in furniture, there is a cut called ‘bee’s wings’ that is beautiful. I don’t think it’s used as structural limber because the grain is wavy and unstable. My cousin Bob & LouAnn have a bee’s wings kitchen,
