We had artichokes for dinner. I warned Rob of never trusting an Aylesbury that tells you the black specks are “just pepper.” They are notorious for serving organic, homegrown artichokes with a little extra seasoning in the form of ants. I also had to stop Rob from eating the choke. Apparently he’s never scrapped it off before.

    I think we had a jar of artichokes once. The pioneer market puts them in salads. Bert says you break off the tips and throw them away. Then Bert says you cut them from top to the stem and then put them in lemon juice for a few hours. Break off the tips and throw them away before you slice them.

    Yummy! Heidi calls that the fuzz. “Mommy, take off the fuzz so I can eat the cupcake!”
